Dragonfly and butterfly counts to be carried out at city biodiversity parks

A dragonfly census will be held between September 18 and 20 at seven biodiversity parks of the Delhi Development Authority. Meanwhile, a butterfly count will be held over a period of two weeks, beginning in the last week of September at south Delhi’s Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary

75% of projects in Delhi’s forest areas flouting terms, top court told

According to a September 4 report, only five of the 20 projects reviewed by CEC adhered to the conditions, including undertaking compensatory plantation, creation of a green belt on-site and taking necessary permissions under the Forest Conservation Act, 1980.

Permission to build within the Ridge or a forest has to be first cleared by the Supreme Court-appointed CEC, followed by granting of permission by the apex court. (HT FILE)

Illegal water extraction: DPCC starts collecting fines from hotels, guest houses in Paharganj

10 water bodies at Asola Bhatti to store 80mn litres, recharge groundwater table

The department said the average depth of 10 water bodies, all of which were carved out at Sahoorpur, Satbari and Maidangarhi, is around three metres and the average area is 0.9 acres
