      Puducherry: NDA gains majority, Congress suffers a major setback

      As of 10 pm, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared that AINRC had won 10 seats while its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had no presence in the region until now, had secured five seats and was leading in one.

      AIADMK draws blank in Puducherry assembly polls

      Senior AIADMK leader A Anbalagan, his brother A Baskar and K A U Hasana Maricar lost in Uppalam, Modeliarpet and Karaikal (south) constituencies respectively to DMK.

      The AIADMK was part of the AINRC led NDA in which the BJP was a constituent and contested the polls.

      Polling underway in Puducherry assembly elections

      A spokesman of the Election Department told PTI that although the percentage of polling for the first two hours would be known only around 9.30 a.m. turn out of the voters at the booths was swelling in most of the constituencies.
