T20 World Cup Stats: The purists have always shunned the T20 format but there is no denying the fact that the shortest format of the sport has really become popular over the years. The franchise model of T20 cricket is popular globally and more importantly helped introduce the game in non-cricket playing countries.
This will be for the first time since its inception that the T20 World Cup would see participation of 20 countries. Any cricket tournament's history is intertwined with stats and records which fans search for when the event nears. From brilliant centuries to nail-biting finishes, the T20 World Cup has been an event of unparalleled talent and intense competition.
Since its inception in 2007, the T20 World Cup has captivated cricket fans worldwide with its fast-paced action
and thrilling matches. Let's take a trip down the memory lane and revisit some of the most memorable moments
from the previous editions of this ICC tournament:
Inaugural edition (2007): Hosted by South Africa, the inaugural T20 World Cup witnessed India lifting the
trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Yuvraj Singh's blistering six sixes in an over against England remains
etched in cricketing folklore. India beat Pakistan in a thrilling final.
Pakistan's moment of glory (2009): After missing out in the inaugural edition, Pakistan were second time
lucky
as they beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in England.

host
Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final.

tournament.
